AVArrows was developed as an alternative to the ESRI arrows line symbol in ArcView.  AVArrows comes standard with 2 arrow head styles:  a thin single line arrow, for flow visualization with minimal obstruction of surrounding features; or a bold polygon arrowhead for maximum impact.  Both styles are user configurable for arrow tail length, sweep angle and position along the arc.

Tami Wheelock of Eagan, MN had this to say about AVArrows:

"It is the best solution to the "giant" arrow problem we've been experiencing with ArcView so far."

Key Benefits

bulletStores arrows as a Theme, not as graphics, for maximum draw speed with minimal increase in project APR size.
bulletAttempts auto-classification of the AVArrows Theme based on the classification of the selected line theme.  Classification fields and data are created and copied into the AVArrows Theme for each line processed in the selected theme.  Color schemes are not replicated in the classification.
bulletContains 2 arrowhead styles.  Shift-Click on the AVArrows button to change the arrowhead style.  The button will display the currently selected style.  The arrowhead style is stored on a configuration script so the next time you open your project, AVArrows remembers your selected style.
bulletUser configurable for arrow tail length, sweep angle and position along the arc.  Each time the AVArrows button is selected, you will be asked for the tail length, sweep angle and position (in percent); the last measurements used are stored on a configuration script and displayed as the default settings.
bulletArrowheads are placed at a user defined position (in percent) along the arc, not at irregular intervals, to minimize obstruction of surrounding features.
